U16 National Regional League v Cobham (Surrey)  Report
@ Robert Clack L Centre

This fixture was being sponsored by JohnJames Luxury Travel Ltd (Mini Bus Hire Company)

A
nervous start to New Cambell’s fight for superiority in the U16 Regional League match which unfortunately led them to a deficit of 3 goals (12 -15) after the 1st Quarter. With several substitutions in the attacking end in this 2nd quarter N Cambell managed to pull the score line back to just one goal deficit to take the score line to 23 – 24: In the 3rd Quarter Cobham came out fighting and with their shooters taking the glory they dominated our defence which led to N Cambell trailing by 5 goals. Again substitutions were made but this time to the defending end in the 4th Quarter and N Cambell were able to keep with them narrowly losing by just 2 goals but unfortunately losing the match by 43 goals to 52:

Essex Met Winter League - Saturday 24th October

Yellow Team v Emeralds : Divison 10

In the first quarter we came out and played a fast passing game and totally overwhelmed the opposition with our speed of play, ending up a few goals ahead. By the second quarter it was a totally different game. The opposition changed their game and used their physical strength to their advantage, this intimidated us greatly. Due to an injury and various incidents, the game stopped and the umpires decided to try and calm down the play and verbal talk from both teams. Their captain and I were told to talk to our teams and if any of us were to comment on the play or umpires decision we had to come off for 2 minutes. As a team we decided we wanted to play on although this put our heads down. By the end of the second quarter they were around 10 goals in front.
Our team talk involving Pat and Jane boosted our confidence and we went out on to the third quarter with renewed confidence. The play in the third quarter was a lot better, we dealt with the physical side and used our speed. With extra height in defence we held our own a lot better and actually won this quarter and gained back a few goals. In the fourth quarter we gave everything we had and every player on the team tried their best. Although we lost and due to the exceptional turn around in the 2nd half of the game we got within 10 to gain extra points thus finishing the game on a high with the FINAL SCORE  of 30-36.

Essex Met Winter League - Saturday 17th October - Report

Yellow Team v Oakwood : Divison 10 :

Won 10 - 9: 8 - 6: 7- 7: 10 - 2:  FINAL SCORE 35 - 24

The Yellow team had an excellent 2nd game of the season. With a squad of 9 players as everyone that was at training had agreed for those missing to be invited to play. The team started a little slow which I think was due to their lack of enthusiasm to warm up properly, this is something they must be prepared to do especially as the weeks get colder!!

The first 1/4 was goal for goal and they ended that 1/4 1 goal up. (10-9.) Play improved vastly the in second 1/4 with some great attacking moves & good goals scored by Alice & Caroline. They pulled away another 2 goals. (18-15) There were a few changes made in the 3rd 1/4 which seemed to unsettle the team and they only managed to draw this 1/4 but at least they didn't drop their lead. (25-22). It was the 4th 1/4 that the defence began to really work hard and played with determination & discipline. Emily & Kirstie were picking the ball up all over the court and made turn over after turnover. They won that 1/4 by 8 only letting 2 goals in. Final Score 35-24.
Coaches Player(s) of the match go to Emily & Kirstie for their hard work & determination to keep the ball out the net.

Essex Met Winter League - Saturday 26th September

Purples v Design Build : Division 7:

WON - 14 - 8: 13 - 6: 5 - 9: 10 -11: FINAL SCORE 42 - 34

This was the first match of the season and everyone was feeling quite nervous as most of these players had played in Division 9 the previous season.
Playing some very basic netball the players moved the ball around the court and took their time in feeding in accurate balls into the shooters who were scoring with ease, and ended the 1st quarter 6 goals up. 14 – 8:
2nd Q saw a few changes but the team continued to work hard in defence with Paris & Katie coming out with some great interceptions and the centre court worked the ball down the court to enable the shooters to put some great shots away.
With the start of the 3rd Q and a lead of 13 goals, 27 – 14 again it was an opportunity to try out another combination. Design Build came out with great determination and scored 5 goals on the trot without a Purple team reply. It took a while before the players got back their focus but unfortunately lost this quarter 5 – 9.
Moving into the 4th Q still up by 7 goals they refocused on what was being asked of them and worked hard to take this quarter by just 1 goal but winning the overall match 42 – 34.
Well done everyone a good win under your belt and thank you Amy scoring when you were not on court. Final Score 42-34

Coaches player of the match: Jessica Finan –For continually reoffering and driving towards the ball with some great marking on and off the ball

Yellows v Wafflon Ladies: Divison 10

Lost: 7 - 11: 9 - 9: 6 - 10: 9- 11: FINAL SCORE 31 - 41:

Saturday saw our Yellow team (U15's) play their first match in the Essex Met adult league against Waffleon. The team was a little nervous at the start as this was going to be the first time they would have played in an adult league. It was an ‘eye opener’ to start with and they found themselves 4 goals behind at the end of the 1st quarter (11-7). After a couple of team changes they then seemed to find their rhythm and with some great attacking moves they managed to draw the second quarter (9-9). The 3rd quarter started well and it went goal for goal but we seemed to tire in the last 5 mins and Waffleon managed to pull away winning this quarter by 4 again. (10-6) We went into the last quarter just 8 goals down and as the coach I emphasised that we needed to keep the score within10 to try and earn extra points. They went back on court and managed to find some extra energy and they all worked their "sox off". Grace picked off a few interceptions at GK and again we found ourselves playing goal for goal. They only dropped 2 goals this quarter and managed to pull the score line up to get the difference to 10 goals for a Final score of 31-41.

For their first game at this level they did themselves proud, they fought hard & did not give up. Bring on the rest of the season where this group will grow & grow in their team play & individual skills.

(Team Alice, Caroline, Olivia, Lauren, Page, Audry, Kirstie, Grace)
Coaches player of the match: Page For working continuously throughout and giving 100%.
A Special ‘thank you’ goes to Audry who played out of position for 3/4 of the game.
