Welcome back and welcome to our New Cambell Website

Congratulations to all our players young and old that took their exams this past year. We are now losing some of those as they are now off to University, whilst some have completed their degrees and are coming back to us. Well Done to all our members– you are a brainy lot!

The 2008 / 09 season is now upon us and the senior and youth teams are in the middle of trials. The Essex Met league starts on Saturday September 27th with our Premier League team on the Sunday 28th. (See web page for fixtures) Our Junior squad of U14’s played their first match on Sunday 7th at Thurrock and won quite convincingly.

We have worked hard in developing our club members as umpires last season and have now an abundance of new young ones. This coming season our clubs aim is to develop more of our members in becoming coaches and volunteers.

We have also introduced a new playing uniform from Kukri. Kukri is sponsoring our Premier team uniform. (Follow
the link in sidebar opposite) By January 2009 our U13’s will be the first group to play in the new Essex Met uniform.

Through a lot of hard work from several members of New Cambell especially Mary Ann we shall know if we have received our ‘Bronze Caps Award’ in the next week or so.

We continue to try and find sponsors to allow us as a club to keep costs down and a very big thank you must go to ‘Jack Petchey’ in supporting our U25 members and our leaders through out the year; To Aquarend our Premier team sponsors who have paid for our training and match venues plus kit (Katie & Holly Nichols dad); and thanks also go to Deutsche Bank (Jayne Rollinson) for support for the Youth teams.

You would not be reading this now if Dave White (Ex Youth Coach & Ruby White’s Dad and the Purple team assist coach last season) hadn’t offered to update our web site (Kirsty Ann Daly set our first web site up a few years back). It will be a fantastic way to communicate to all its past, present and future members around the country and the world. You will not receive any emails in future as all the information will be on this web site. Thank You Dave for putting so many hours into getting this web site up and running far quicker then we ever thought possible.

Challenge of the New Season

We all have an exciting and hopefully successful season ahead of us. Please every one enjoy the season, play hard, play well, play fair, respect each other, achieve your own and your teams goals but most of all be responsible for your own actions.

I was trying to sum up my thoughts and looked for quotations where I found several which I would like to share with you if you want to achieve and become successful on the way.

‘Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up on your right to be wrong, because then you will
lose the ability to learn new things and will not be able to move forward with your life’

Dr David M. Burns

‘You always pass failure on the way to success’.

Mickey Rooney the actor

‘Success is the ability to go from one failure to another – with no loss of enthusiasm’.

Sir Winston Churchill

‘For when the One Great Scorer comes
To write against your name,
He marks not that you won or lost –
But how you played the game’

Grantland Rice
