NC Green v Marshalls
The Green team played their penultimate match of the season against third placed Marshalls who the Greens had not yet played due to the weather cancellations. With some notable absences due to holiday and injury, Jade and Mary-Ann kindly stepped into the breach at WD and GK respectively.
Both teams made strong starts, scoring off the vast majority of their centre passes in the first quarter, which ended 14-10. Mary-Ann immediately made an impact in the circle, combining well with Jenny and containing the Marshalls' lofty shooter effectively.
In the second quarter the Greens stepped up a gear and some patient interplay in attack resulted in frequent goals. The Greens defence continued to make life hard for the Marshalls shooters and the Greens won the quarter by 8 goals.
The heat began to take its toll by the third quarter and the Greens slumped allowing Marshalls back into the game. However, Sarah Tibble continued her excellent shooting, dominating the attacking circle and making light work of the new Marshalls GD. Marshalls rediscovered the overhead ball into the circle and the quarter ended 41-32.
In the last quarter both teams fought hard but with Captain Jenny and WD Jade picking up some key interceptions, and with sisters Katie and Holly continuing to work hard in centre court, the Greens edged further ahead. The Green team took the match 57-45 and will regroup this week to prepare for a second (rearranged) match against Marshalls on 1st May.

NC Blue v Marshalls
This was a team we lost to quite heavily first time around so we really wanted to make a better fight of it and we did:
The first half was fairly close but sadly Tanesha had to come off after having twisted her ankle but we were fortunate in that we had 9 players this week. With substitutions and positional changes we managed to pull back a few goals. At half time Adele (back from baby and a match for the Greens) came on and the extra height in the circle made Marshalls think about their feeding in. At one stage in this quarter we managed to pull level, but some poor passing and a few missed shots found us trailing at the end by 4 goals for a Final Score of 43 – 47: A much better performance, in fact, we could have won it if we had all made one less error! Food for thought ah girls? Still we got the extra point and it was a better result than last time, so onwards and upwards!
Tanesha – keep in touch and let us know how your ankle is

Essex Met Winter League Report
Our Green team had very few players left this week and even our regular subs that help us out when we are short were unable to play this Saturday. Never mind all those players that played (there was 11 of them) this week a very big thank you. It was never going to be an easy match and this proved so true against the young team from Manor. Fortunately our shooter Amy (POM) was on top form and she kept us in contention. Constant changes do not always help the flow of the game but it was necessary to make sure our Blue team players (3 of them) were going to be fit enough to play their own tight game straight afterwards. The game went backwards and forwards with just a few goals separating the two teams throughout but New Cambell managed in the dying seconds to score a goal to give us a lead of just the one to take the win. We would like to thank Lauren (6th team) Ruth (3rd team) & Laura (4th team) also playing up this week and to the 4 Original Green team players Well Done. Won 48-47
The Blue team followed we had players missing again but this time borrowing from our White team. This is where as a club we are so fortunate in having the quality of players in the lower divisions that are quite capable in playing up. At half time Romford were still in the lead by three goals 18 -21. Substitutions and positional changes were made which heped NC pull the score to level at the end of the 3rd Q. The last quarter the Blue team started to gel; links, team work and at last the timing of moves started to create gaps in Romford’s defence, and with some accurate feeds from Jillean (POM) into our shooters it all started to come together. With great team work and excellent shooting the Blues took the lead and started to pull away for a good win. Score 46 – 37
The White team were playing top of Division two Essex Open 1st team this week, so they knew this was not going to be an easy game. Fortunately the white team were able to field a full side this week with Amy returning and Zoe being injured they still had 7 players. There was very little to choose between either team throughout the match. In the last quarter a positional change slightly altered the New Cambell’s play in both attack and defence to our advantage which resulted in the Whites pulling away by 4 goals to take the win Score 49 – 45. POM Leigh-Ann for her calm influence and great shooting
Our Red team having lost to the league leaders last week wanted to get back into the winning ways again having won 5 out of their previous 6 matches. They were playing 2nd from bottom team Essex Open and perhaps went out not as fired up as they should have been, although having said that they were still 7 goals up at half time. Team substitutions and changes accumulated in Essex pulling the 7 goal deficit back to within one or two by the end of the third quarter. Team subs and changes again in the 4th Q meant NC had a fight on their hands if they wanted to win this match. Essex also wanted a win to try and stop them being relegated and therefore a nail biting game right to the end. Pressure was on both teams’ shooters as the ball was brought down and fed into the circle daring one team to miss. In the end the Red team dug deep winning the match by just 2 goals. Score 40-38.
The Silver team although top of Div 4 were playing the team just below them in 3rd position Pettits A. The last time they met there were only a few goals difference in the score line so concentration was needed all round. This game started as they finished back in November with very little to chose between the two teams. Errors were being made by both teams in the centre court which gave the defending ends great opportunities to intercept and turn the ball round for the centre court to again feed the shooters. A change at the end of the 1st quarter made very little difference and the score line remained close throughout the next 30 mins. An injury in the last quarter to one of our defences meant another sub was brought on. Nicky did fantastically well and like her counterpart continued to gain rebounds and intercepts which were sent down through the centre court to the shooters. A goal in the dying seconds gave the Silver team a win by just the one goal 43 -42. POM Kirsty.
NC Orange team have started to find their feet and are at last producing some great netball by linking moves through the court and finishing off with excellent shooting. NC was playing Ilford 3 this week and never looked as though they were going to be in trouble. Keeping the lead all the way through they started to capitalise on their tight defending down the court and in the circle to allow the defences to pick up some great interceptions. A fairly easy win well deserved compared to the other club scores this week of 46 -29. POM Maisy for her excellent shooting
Our youth section found it tough this week. The Purples were not helped by some team members unable to fulfil this fixture due to other commitments, but the rest of the squad played incredibly well. When the players listen to their coach and try to do what is asked of them it works and this enabled them to keep in contention right up to the last quarter. Experience told in the end and Sapphire ‘ C’ pulled further away to take their lead to 9 goals; Score 38 – 47. Our babes the Yellow team are learning something new every time they venture out on the court. It is such a pity that sometimes this is not always appreciated by the more experienced players in the opposing teams. A close encounter in more ways than one saw our brilliant squad of players who had worked hard throughout the match lose by just the one goal Score 30 -31

NC White vs Ingrebourne Div 3 Final Score 46 - 24
This week we played Ingrebourne and welcomed back Amy from injury. We began well with the score at 12-7 at the end of the first quarter. Some good marking all round from Cambell saw Ingrebourne losing several centre passes which helped us increase our lead to 22-11 at half time. Continuous good defending from Bel and Crago in the circle and Emma and Mad in the defending third enabled us to increase our score this quarter by 11 goals to 7. Unfortunately Amy's injury started to cause her problems again and she had to come off but was replaced by Kirsty who fitted in nicely feeding the shooters Leigh Ann & Ruth who were having their best quarter by scoring 13 goals to Ingrebournes 6 for a final score line of 46 - 24;

NC Silvers vs. Essex Open - Final Score 37 -15
A miserable grey sky filled the air over Redbridge again this week. We were one player down from our usual team and had to play without our captain Lucy, so Jaz played up for us at WD. The first quarter we started well with our shooters scoring the first 4 goals without reply, but the defending circle as per normal was slightly slippery, which happened to make me fall over and graze my knee, but no one got seriously injured luckily enough. The ball flowed well down the court, and the shooters shot well taking us to an 8 goal lead.
Going into the 2nd Quarter there were some good interceptions made in the defending third from Jaz, Kirsty, Lydia and Rebecca, which were quickly turned into goals by our shooters of Lauren and Michaela. 2nd quarter score was 22 – 9, which meant the defence had worked really hard to not let any goals in and the shooters and attackers had done well to get the ball into the circle and score.
Kirsty and Rebecca changed positions and possibly we relaxed and slowed down a bit in the 3rd quarter as only 9 goals were scored in this quarter which meant there was a lot of back and forth up the court.
A team change in the last quarter saw Ifeoma take up the GA position and the team speed up as the ball started to flow well down the court with some excellent feeding in by Phoebe and Lydia. The defending end tightened back up and let just 3 goals in to take the final score to 37 – 15 for a great win.

A very cold damp & wet Saturday greeted us again this week, with once again the courts being very slippery.
Other than that it was an excellent end to the 2009 year. We were just unfortunate we couldn’t finish it off with 8 wins out of 8 so in the end we had to settle for 7 wins instead. With the teams now nearly half way through the season they are starting to settle down and produce some good results.
All teams have now won at least 3 games which place them in the middle to the top half of their respective divisions.
Congratulations to the Silver team who are in 1st place and also in 2nd place with the number of goals scored (Michaela & Lauren) and are in 1st place for letting in the least number of goals (Kirsty & Rebecca) Well Done.

NC Green Team v Leyton A: Final Score 37 - 47
We knew it was going to be to a tough match this week, with only goal difference separating us in the league!! Unfortunately we were missing a few players (having only 3 green team members). However, we managed to get a few good ringers to fill their places- thanks to Holly, Katie Mc, Sarah and Claire for playing! The game started well and we managed to get a few goals up in the first 10 minutes but unfortunately just let Leyton get back into the game by the end of this quarter. The second quarter is what let us down. We allowed Leyton to go 6 goals up due to silly errors! Our basic passing and timing was not good enough and this proved costly.
The shooters swapped going into the 3rd Q but unfortunately Leyton seemed quite physical in this quarter and at times I think they were concentrating more on contacting us, rather than intercepting the ball! Although this was a slightly better quarter, we were not able to pull the goals back.
Again, too many mistakes in the fourth quarter prevented us from getting back into the game. The heavens then opened making it a rather sober afternoon for the green team who saw their first defeat of the season!
Player of the match- Sarah Tibble
NC Blue team v Manor A: Final Score 45 - 36
It was the 2nd week in a row that the Blue team were on the graveyard shift!
With just 5 of our players there at the start of the game as the two that were late were travelling by public transport and there were problems (No central line again). Well this week we started with 6 as fortunately I had asked Leigh Ann to stay, which she, as always, was happy to do. And she did a good job for us. We managed to stay ahead of Manor by just 1 goal so when the first part of the cavalry arrived we were still in contention. Rochelle again had to play GK and did very well for the team.
It seems you learn something every match and I learnt this week that not only should teams have first aid kit, pins etc. but also spare contact lenses! Tanesha lost one in the third quarter, but Holly came to the rescue with a lens of similar prescription, so she was able to carry on. Our last player had arrived by this time, so Rochelle came back to her normal position of GS and the team started to settle. Our team played well, in the main this week, winning each quarter. Something we must work on is delivery down the court from the back as this is where we lost a lot of turnover opportunities. In attack, when we kept the ball moving and safe, we had no problems. It was good to have a much needed win before Christmas, and I hope we can continue our winning ways in the New Year. Once again I would stress the need for a full practice, and to remind people that extra travelling time is needed these days, to get to a game on time. Hopefully in the New Year we should have our full team back to strength as injuries should have cleared up and look forward to some good full squad training sessions and more wins.
May I thank Leigh Ann for playing for us again, and Holly who had to play 2 games at C!!

N C White team v Ilford 1: Final Score 35 - 26
A bright and cold Saturday morning saw the White team take to the court for their rugby (sorry, netball) match against Ilford. Historically we have hard fought matches against this team and today was no exception. The trains helped out Ilford by making Ruth late which saw Maddy step up and play GA for the first quarter. Fair play to Maddy for scoring her one (yes one) glorious goal in the first quarter which saw the score settle at 8 all. Think Maddy will be asking Santa for a GA bib for Xmas!!
The second quarter saw everyone back in their normal position which reflected in the score of 19 13 with Cambell in the lead.
Third quarter we managed to extend the lead to 27 20 which was down to Pat making an appearance on the sidelines and scaring everyone (particularly me and Crago) into playing properly and not mucking about……………….and we finally won the match 35 26.
Highlights of the match have to be Crago almost getting knocked unconscious by Maddy's thigh and Emma running so hard and fast she was unable to stop and ended up leap frogging the umpire on the next court (I say leap frogging it was more of a bundle!) Good interceptions all up the court and some brill shooting made sure the Whites maintain their position as second in the league behind Essex Open.

NC Red Team v Romford 1: Final Score 34 - 27
Another miserable wet and cold Saturday coupled with another unfamiliar team line up for NC Reds meant worry for all about what was in store!. With only 4 of our team able to play Charlotte and Lauren stepped in to cover the shooting circle and Ifeoma arrived (on time!!!) to cover defence. It was also a must win game for NC Red, who are currently placed sixth in the league with opponents Romford lying in forth.
The first quarter was very unsettled for NC Reds with everyone getting used to playing together many balls were thrown away. However, strong shooting from Charlotte and Lauren meant we finished the quarter up by one goal – (8-7)We approached the second quarter with renewed spirits (after a pep talk/telling off from Pat) and although there was still some sloppy play, strong defensive play from Ifeoma meant that we turned over every opportunity we had and finished the quarter (19-13).
Half time and the team switched around, with lauren coming out to GA and Laura moving back to give Ifeoma a run around at GD! The tactics worked, as the ball flowed well down the court, with attackers Teigan and Polly timing their dodges well and feeding the ball into Lauren and Charlotte beautifully. (28-20)
The final quarter saw Romford come back fighting, challenging every ball! However, some excellent defensive interceptions from Teigan meant we kept them at bay.
Team: GK: Ifeoma, GD: Laura Meech, WD: Louise Robinson, C: Polly Boardman, WA: Teigan Moore, GA: Lauren Leech, GS: Charlotte Baucott.
Player of the match – Teigan
NC Silvers V Foresters 1: Final Score 35-33
An early start meant slippery conditions but no serious injuries thankfully this time round!! Silvers are topping the division and wanted to keep it that way. Playing Foresters this week we knew it would be a tight game due to the fact that both teams had been promoted last season and several of their players are ex Cambell players & still friends. Despite the slippery conditions on the court it was a good game. It took us a while to settle in with players throwing away passes but as the game moved on we improved and with excellent interceptions in the circle from Kirsty and Rebecca we managed to turn their missed goals into goals for us with some excellent shooting from Lauren and Michaela.
The game showed good team play and brilliant interceptions in defence. The flowing movement along the court from Lucy, Lydia and Phoebe meant the ball was successfully reaching the attacking circle and was reflected in the end result.
Well done to the silvers this week, it was a tight game throughout but we fought to the end and won by 2 goals. A great start to the season and still top of the division! Well done girls – bring on 2010!!

N C Oranges v Design Build: Final Score 45 - 31
We did not capitalise in the first half in the fact that we had an extra player on court (they had 6) and therefore made it difficult for ourselves and did not use this to our advantage. In the early stages of the game, a few sloppy passes and hesitant play allowed the opposition to keep on level terms.
With the score at 20 -21 at half time we knew we had to start concentrating and as we progressed we started to come together along with some fine shooting from Gemma and Maisie slowly drew Cambell back into contention by winning that Q 8 goals to 6. It was not until the last quarter did every one of us start to play as we knew and should have played all the way through the match. Everyone worked and fought hard as a team in the end to get the result we rightly deserved. Throughout the match there were some well timed interceptions from Zoe at WD and close marking from Jaz at GD helped the team really get into their stride and win the game 45-31.

NC Yellow v Chigwell Ladies 3: Final Score 29 -22
The Yellow team played Chigwell Ladies 3 which ended up being a close encounter as every Q was close. The shooters of Alice Dunn and Alice Jones settled well and some good shots were scored. The centre court worked hard throughout with changes made to both Wings during the match. Page playing centre stayed to keep momentum and worked very hard when she remembered to ground her feet... she also made some good interceptions. The defence of Emily Jones and Kirsty worked very well together and took on board all that was asked of them and ended up picking up lots of interceptions to help take a good win.
Player of the Match: Kirsty GD for her work rate and timely interceptions

NC Blue team v Marshalls A: Final Score 33- 48
I can understand why no-one wanted to report on this match – not a good day at the office! We were pleased to have Tanesha back after her groin injury so she had her first game for a while – pity it wasn’t a better result!
Unfortunately the rain came just as we started the game, and the slippery surface did not suit our play, particularly in attack. We got off to a bad start, missing several goals giving Marshalls a first quarter lead of 10-4.
The second quarter was much better, (these posts suited us!!) and we won that quarter but still had a lot of making up to do. The 3rd quarter was a disaster, nothing went our way. If we got a tip in defence, it went to the opposition, usually the very tall GS! And if Tanesha had recovered from her injury, the times she did the splits has probably given her another one.
We brought Rochelle into the attack in the last quarter (she had played 2 as GD) and it was a better quarter, but we could not make up the deficit, losing in the end by 15 goals – not good, only one point.
Our shooting was not at its best this week in general, and our delivery from the back was also very suspect which meant it often did not reach the attacking end. I think it shows that we have not had a match for 3 weeks, and also a decent practice for I don’t know how many weeks. I cannot remember the last time we had a full complement of players on a Tuesday for a practice, so let’s get it together girls, and get a decent turnout before the next match.

NC Greens v Foxes 1 Final Score : 47 - 32
Having the early match means slippery court as always but no major injuries just a few self inflicted falls!!! , Greens went out a straight away putting their mark on the game but we struggled with feeding the circle for the first 5 goals but thankfully due to some lovely passing between Holly and Sam the ball eventually got into the circle with Sarah and Amy putting up some great shots and missing hardly any. (it was that extra practise Amy wasnt it? (Editors note)
Foxes never gave up and kept coming back at us. Mary Anne gave Foxes GS a run for her money marking her well and putting her off her shot. Nearer the end of the game Jenny & Mary started to combine and were able to put on a zone defence with enabled them to pick of some some great interceptions which enabled us to get the ball down to our shooters for them to score. Thanks to Holly and Mary-Ann for filling in this week

NC Silvers v Manor B: Final score 40 -33:
With both Manor and us both being one of top couple of teams in this division, we knew we were in for some tough competition. Having just a bare 7 players in our team this week, we knew it was vital that we did not sustain any more injuries. The first quarter started very even with both teams scoring from their centre passes but due to several Cambell interceptions and brilliant teamwork we found ourselves up by 10-8. The 2Q proved to be just as tight as Manor made a comeback and won this quarter to take the lead by 19 – 20 goals; Team changes were made at half time which turned the game again as we came out determined and made an amazing return taking the score to 31-27 taking us 4 in front. To ensure that we did not waste our great teamwork, we scored of of our centre passes and with a few more interceptions managed to keep procession and further increased the lead by 7! Final score 40-33. This game was one of our toughest, and though we made it hard for ourselves, we managed to come out successfully! And thankfully we missed the rain!
Player of the match; Lucy for her amazing interceptions, backing up and encouragement for all the team.

NC Whites v Plessey Blue (1) Final score 44 - 36:
If you had told us that they we would eventually win this game by 8 goals after the first quarter, none of us would have believed you. We started the game very sluggish and lost this Q 8-16, in the 2nd we managed to pull back a few and won 9 – 6 to take us to 17-22 by half time. With Plessey's shooter hardly missing we relied heavily on the defence and with Pat working her wonders from the side line, we managed to improve our passing to finally get it into the shooters to draw the game level at the 3/4 time. Pat's constant coaching paid off when something clicked in the 4th quarter, goals flying in from both Leanne and Ruth, the centre court working hard in attack and defence and the (slow motion) jump of the match from Belinda resulted in a very excited Pat as we pulled away finishing 44-36.
Player of the match – Belinda – for her brilliant interception (haven’t seen her jump that high in years!) which helped turn the game into our favour.

Essex Met Winter League Reports:
There were 5 wins this week and again the courts were slippery under foot with quite a few players again slipping and ending up on the floor. For the 2nd week, we had a serious injury which is not being helped by state of the damp playing surface. The first win went to our first team the 'Greens' who had a relatively easy game against Manor A. They took highest score and also best goal difference winning this match 62 - 28 not allowing Manor to score a point. The Blues our 2nd team had a tough match against newly promoted Romford 1. With just 1 or 2 goals separating the teams it wasn’t until the last quarter the NC Blues pulled away to take a very good win in the end by 9 goals. This team have suffered several injuries over the past few weeks so well done and thank you to those that played up. Next are our White team - a very hard match to play as the Essex Open 1st team had just been relegated from Div 1 and have some very talented players in their squad. Very close all the way with both teams continuing to show great talent in both attack and defence. Unfortunately we ended up losing out by just 4 goals but an excellent match to watch for the neutrals. Our 4th team the Reds are next having just lost out last week they came out very determined to take their first win of the season having been promoted this year. Playing against E Open B the team worked hard producing some excellent netball and again having to use players up to cover illness and injury won this match quite convincingly with a score of 46 goals to 21. The Silver team (5) played Pettits A and again both teams gave their all. Scores were close for the majority of the game but it was the team work that won them the match in the end with a score line of 35 -29. This puts them top of Div 4. The Oranges played Ilford 3 and a good game all round. Close to start with and with several different combinations they finally pulled away to take them to their 2nd win of the season with a score of 35-29. Our youth teams had two tough and hard matches playing against two mature teams. The girls worked hard but in the end experience told I think and both matches were lost. Purples 41 - 43: Yellow 30 - 36:
NC Silvers v Pettits A: Final score 35-29:
We were off to a poor start as our shots were not going in and our overall performance was not what we were used to. We were losing 5-8. We were unfortunately still not comfortable with our play as Pettits were putting us under a lot of pressure all over the court and we found ourselves down by 5 making it 17-12 to Pettits. After an encouraging talk, we decided that we needed to win this game, and the third quarter let us prove this as we pulled it up within two to take the score to 23 – 25 to them.Into the last quarter and with great determination and team work we gradually caught them up and gradually started to edge our way into a slight lead. Unfortunately halfway through this last quarter, our centre Josie made an amazing interception but landed awkwardly damaging her knee and had to be taken to hospital. Though crushed by the loss of one of our players, (we were fortunate to have had a sub with us this week) we needed to keep up our hard work in order to stay focused and stay on top. Thankfully, with every shot going in at one end and score changing interceptions at the other, Cambell won 35-29. An amazing effort from each and every player though we did make hard work of it. Best wishes go out to Jose and we hope she gets better soon in order to help us stay top of the league.
Player of the match; Jose for giving it her all with her interceptions, encouragement for all the team and great use of space on court.

NC Greens v Manor: Final score: 62-28:
An early start for the Green team and a first for us - all seven players selected into the Greens were available to play, so the pressure was on to perform! A cold, crisp day, with a little too much bright sunshine, but despite us suffering with the sun in our eyes, the Green team were in uncompromising form, posting an excellent performance and clinching top spot (for now) in the first division from Leyton by goal difference. Both teams took their time to settle in the first quarter, which was reflected in the score line, with Cambell only up by 4 goals. The Greens woke up in the second quarter, gradually pulling away from Manor with some excellent link play down the court, fast and sharp feeding into the circle from Rose and Sam and solid shooting from our dynamic duo, Sarah and Amy. The defensive team of Lauren, Jenny and Katie were not yet at full capacity. The third quarter saw a fine switch in defensive tactics, with the team playing a zonal defence. The back end worked much more as a unit and communicated well, with Lauren and Katie in particular picking up many interceptions. The whole team looked after the ball and we saw the majority of our interceptions converted to goals, with some breathtaking play all the way down the court. Manor continued to press in the fourth quarter, but the gap was too great and the Greens ran out deserved winners, 62-28.
Player of the match goes to Rose Morgan-Smith for her timely interceptions, calm attitude and fantastic passing into the shooting circle.
