Sunday Oct 23rd: England Prem Div 1 Match v Bournemouth 7′s Blades

New Cambell are sponsored by Aquarend. A home fixture this week saw the young team from Bournemouth as our opponents for the fifth match of the season.
The squad were very determined to continue where they left off from the previous winning streak and they did not disappoint the spectators. With the skillful trio of Becky, Katie and Holly on the centre court they produced some outstanding play in both attack and defence.
In shooting this week we saw the return of Lyndsey Armitage in her first match for over 4 months after recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in last season Super League along with Vice Captain Gemma. Between the two of them they managed to score 21 goals, over a goal per minute. 2nd quarter the team continued to work hard and not to be outdone the defending end of Lindsay and Sarah managed to turn the ball over 7 times to increase the NC lead now to 16 goals. Team changes at half time saw NC bring on their young 17 year old Holly Sims in the shooting circle along with Ophelia in defence and Rose on the centre court and although it took them a while to settle they managed to increase the lead by another 3 goals through some great defending allthe way down the court. Last quarter saw the young Blades team put in some fantastic work as they pressurised NC and managed to pull back 4 goals, unfortunate for them it was not enough and New Cambell came away clear victors.
Squad: Lyndsey: Gemma: Holly: Rose: Holly: Katie: Becky: Sarah Lindsay: Ophelia:
Scores: 21 – 11: 15 – 9: 10 – 7: 9 – 13: Final Score: 55 – 40

Saturday 15th Snr Regional Match v Poly

A trip across the other side of London in Southgate saw our 3rd match of the season against another well established club Poly.
A good start saw us take the lead by 4 goals and Tracey NC player/manager decided to keep the same team on for the 2nd Q. At half time Poly had pegged the score back to give NC a 3 goal lead. Tracey brought herself on and moved the rest of the players back one position which made the impact that was needed along with a 6 goal lead. With the same team combining well together and some great defending down the court enabled the defences of Mary Ann & Belinda to reap the rewards. Some fast attacking play by the centre court of Michelle, Teri & Tracey enabled the shooters of Rochelle and Leigh Ann plenty of opportunitites to double the margin of winning to 12 goals.
Squad: Rochelle: LeighAnn: Tracey: Teri: Michelle: Jade: MaryAnn: Charlene: Belinda:
Score: 13- 9: 8 – 9:P 11 – 8: 11 – 5: Final Score: 43 – 31

Sunday 9th October: Thurrock Open Tournament

Sunday New Cambell entered the Thurrock Open Rally which was being held at Hassenbrook School with our U16’s and U14’s along with some of our Junior teams.
There was some excellent play from our U16’s who had the opportunity to try out their team on the Saturday in the Essex Met Senior League for a hard fought win against Marshalls C winning in the end by 7 goals 39 – 32: They continued this winning streak into Sunday where they met teams from Chelmsford, Colchester, Basildon, Brentwood, Thurrock and Dorset. They went on to win every one of their 10 matches albeit some were to the’ wire games’ to take the top spot and were rewarded with medals.

Sunday 9th October: England Premier Div 1 Match v Hucclecote

A minutes silence was held at the start of our match out of respect for one of the most successful male coaches in the Country Mr Mike Greenwood who died yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and Oldham Netball Club.

Another close Premier match was expected today but we were really aiming to win having lost all 3 games previously and bottom of the league.
Drawing on our full squad for this match we had back for her first match this season Hazel (stress fracture) and Adele to help our depleted defending court out. With our young new signing Holly starting the match this week and Hazel giving her experience to Ophelia in her first season we stormed away with a 5 goal lead. No match is easy and as expected Hucclecote led by their experience Captain Jackie came out with intereceptions and pulled the score line back to bring it all level at half time. New Cambell made a few changes and swopped players around but still there was only 1 goal difference at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Keeping the same team together and pulling on all their experience worked as they eventually pulled ahead and in the the last minute the experience players of Becky and Gemma took control and kept the ball moving to eventually get our first win of the season by just 2 goals.
Score: 13 – 8: 9 – 14: 9 – 8: 11 – 10: Final Score 42 – 40
Shooting Stats: NCambell 42/63 = 67%: Hucclecote 40/68=59%
Squad: Holly S: Katie Mc: Gemma: Holly: Rose: Becky: Sarah R: Ophelia: Hazel: Adele: POM Gemma
