Sunday 7th Feb - Prem v Stash Blades Report

It was good to have a home fixture as the last one played was back at the beginning of December. We had more players to select from this week which Jillean was very pleased about - so she says thank you shooters.
Again we did not start well and saw us trailing the young team from Southampton in this 1st Q by 6 goals. The 2nd Q we were able to turn this around by tightening up our defending play all the way down the court which put more pressure on Blades to create more turnovers for us and also we were able to turn these into creating 20 opportunities for our shooters compared to Stash Blades‘s 13 to take this quarter 17 – 9: The 3rd Q was close as both teams had similar shooting ops but we were able to pull away this quarter by 4 more goals due to the better accuracy. In the last quarter N Cambell continued the tight defending all the way down the court and with some excellent feeding they were able to take this quarter by another 3 goals.  A Good Win well played every one and thank you to all the spectators, it was a good competitive match to be involved in.

Player of the match selected by Stash Blades – Rose Morgan Smith
Score: 10 -16: 17 – 9: 15 – 11: 13 – 10: = Final Score 57 – 45
Squad: Lyndsey: Gemma: Rochelle: Holly: Rose: Katie: Jade: Clare: Sarah: Taneisha

U16 National Regional League - Sat 6th Feb (Home)

An excellent win against the team from Kent Charville. New Cambell where able to use the whole squad this week for a 54-28 result.

Sunday 31st Jan - Prem v Oldham Report

An early morning start for the squad this week for their match in Manchester. A journey that should take approx 4 ½ hours ended up taking 5 ½ with snow, sleet and road works taking its toll on our journey. Oldham kindly delayed the start of the match to give the girls time to stretch their legs and get a good warm up.

We were already depleted of players this week due to various reasons but we are very fortunate to be able to add the names of our Manager and Assistant coach to be able to take our travelling squad to ten players.

We did not start well with plenty of errors all the way down the court due to some great play by Oldham. 8 – 16: The 2nd quarter saw an inspirational change – not from team changes but a belief in themselves which saw Cambell take the first 4 goals to bring the team back into contention. This they continued and they were able to take the score to 23 – 22 in N Cambell’s favour. Unfortunately a serious injury in the last 5 minutes of this quarter when our already stand in shooter Sam had to be lifted off the court. Movement within the team saw our WD take up the GA role for the rest of this quarter.
The start of the third quarter saw us bring on our ‘super sub / Manager’ Jillean to take up the GA position now. This third quarter was close due to the excellent shooting from both teams with just 1 goal missed from all 4 players which kept just the 1 goal difference. The last quarter N Cambell came out with determination and now being a little more settled was able to get a good run of 5 goals early in this quarter which they were able to extend for an excellent 19 – 12 last quarter for an excellent win.

1st Q; 8 – 16: 2nd Q: 15 – 6: 3rd Q: 12 – 12: 4th Q: 19 – 12: Final Score: 53 – 47
Team: Lyndsey: Sam: Holly: Katie: Jade: Clare: Taneisha: Sarah: Jillean: Tracey:

Sunday 24th Wendy Hale Netball Tournament
U19's & Senior

What can I say except this tournament was everything that we had intended it to be.

It was a fun tournament, with just one rule and that was ‘players had to enjoy themselves and laugh and smile’ and this was what was achieved.

Everyone was a winner today as the weather was kind to us and there was some great netball from the young (U19’s) and old (+???????) where the ball had to do the work as not always the legs would move or the oxygen masks were not quite on hand quick enough or the toilet was too far away!

It was a Cambell rally played in the true spirit of sportsmanship and thank you to all those that participated be it as an umpire, table official, refreshment lady/man, raffle seller or player. To those supporters that had travelled just so that they could become part of the day and pay their respects to a wonderful club player Wendy thank you.

Thank you to Steve, Sue and family for supporting the day and handing out the trophy’s to the eventual winners Seniors NC All Sorts with R Up Star Swish & NC U19 team & R Up Kent C NC.

Check our Photo Gallery later in the week for pictures of the day.
Looking forward all ready to next year. Well Done everyone.

Sunday 17th Jan - Prem v Oaksway Report

It was that time of the year again the dreaded journey to the north! An early start saw the team set off for their road trip to Hartlepool (or was it Hull????) at 5.30am Sunday morning. The team managed to get in a few hours sleep before our first stop on the A1, the little chef! The squad enjoyed a healthy option breakfast in preparation for our big game.
Oaksway came out in the first quarter very strong, where they found their shooter with little problems, who was converting her shots each time. Cambell took some time to settle, and found difficulty bringing the ball through the court with the score in the end 1st Q 9 -19.
With several positional changes going into the 2nd Q we managed to pull this Q back and won this 10- 13: The third quarter saw Oaksway utilise their full 12 squad and made several changes.
Cambell responded and started strongly. Jade came on at WD and opened the quarter with an interception from the oppositions centre pass and we were able to keep with them by drawing this quarter 11 -11.

The final quarter saw Oaksway use their squad and fresh legs to their advantage. Cambell were working hard, however tiredness saw us make silly errors and lose possession. We lost that quarter 17-7. Final Score 57-40.

Saturday December 12th Essex Met League Report

A very cold damp & wet Saturday greeted us again this week, with once again the courts being very slippery. It is very unfortunate as this curtails players from producing some of the netball skills that they would like to show due to the worry of serious injury.
Other than that, result wise it was an excellent end to the 2009 year. it was just unfortunate we couldn’t finish it off with 8 wins out of 8 so in the end we had to settle for 7 out of 8 instead.
There were good wins all round and with the teams now nearly half way through the season they are all starting to settle down and produce some good results.

All teams have now won at least 3 games which places them in the middle to the top half of their respective divisions, with the Silver team topping their division.
Most goals scored so far
Green Team 282 – (Sarah & Amy): 2nd Place Silver team with 243 goals – (Michaela: Lauren) and in 3rd place the Blue team on 242 goals – (Jillean: Katie: Rochelle)
Best Defence so far
Silver team 177 (Kirsty, Rebecca & Lydia): 2nd on 199 goals- Yellow team (Emily; Audrey: Jodie) 3rd place the Orange team with 199 goals against with the defensive end of Jackie: Nicky; Jasmye  alternating:

Sunday 6th December v Hucclecote (Glos) Report

New Cambell are sponsored by Kukri Sports & Aquarend Group
NC started well this week scoring the first couple of goals but a few errors and Hucclecote soon pounced and pulled it back. A reasonable good first Q as we found ourselves up by just the odd goal 11-10: There was little change in the 2nd Q with both teams giving their shooters similar opportunities to score but this time we lost this one by the odd goal to make it all even at half time. 3rd Q was our downfall this week as we did not create enough shooting opportunities and although Gemma scored 100% it was not enough and we found ourselves 3 goals down. In the 4th Q Hucclecote pulled away further from us but sheer determination from NC gradually started to see them claw the score back but unfortunately not enough to give us that extra point that we wanted and lost the match by 5 goals;
Score: 11 -10: 11- 12: 10 -13: 12 - 14: Final Score 44 -49

U16 National Regional League v Cobham (Surrey) Report

Saturday Nov 28th start 12.00 @ Robert Clack  L Centre
Sponsored by JohnJames Luxury Travel (Mini Bus Hire Company)
A nervous start to New Cambell’s fight for superiority in the U16 Regional League match which unfortunately led them to a deficit of 3 goals (12 -15) after the 1st Quarter. With several substitutions in the attacking end in this 2nd quarter N Cambell managed to pull the score line back to just one goal deficit to take the score line to 23 – 24: In the 3rd Quarter Cobham came out fighting and with their shooters taking the glory as they dominated our defending end which led to N Cambell trailing by 5 goals. Again substitutions were made but this time to the defending end in the 4th Quarter and N Cambell were able to keep with them narrowly losing by just 2 goals but unfortunately losing the match by 43 goals to 52:
New Cambell U16 Squad: Lauren: Jasmin: Sophie L: Amy L: Lucy S: Katie H: Faustie Ann: Paris Rhodes (Capt) Ella G: Emily L & Page R:
New Cambell player of the match: Sophie Luck scoring 39 goals out of 42 attempts giving her an excellent 93% shooting average

Their next match is on Saturday Dec 5th (Away) against Kent Club

England Premier Division 1
Sunday 29th November v Team Bath Away Report

A disappointing start did not help New Cambell’s aim to win this match. Cambell were very sluggish in this 1st Q and found themselves 8 goals down which was the complete opposite to last week’s brilliant 1st Q. In the 2nd Q it was a much better team effort as the team changes started to take effect and lost this one by 3 goals. Substitutions again in the 3rd quarter gave Cambell the determination to work hard both in attack and defence to gain a 1 goal advantage by scoring 18 goals to Baths 17. In the last quarter the game continued with neither team giving an inch but unfortunately for us we were unable to claw back the 9 goal deficit in the 1st half. A very high scoring match with the
Final score of 51 - 63 to Team Bath
Our next home fixture is on
Sunday 6th December v Hucclecote start 12.30

Saturday November 21st - Essex Met League Report

Senior & Youth report:
The rain held off until the last round this week but still the courts were slippery but fortunately we came away without any serious injuries. With great determination from individuals and teams New Cambell came away with 4 wins this week. Each one of those teams had to work hard for the wins which show the standard of netball is getting stronger in the Essex Met league.
This week’s top score goes to the Green team with their excellent win against Foxes scoring 47 goals and also having the least goals scored against them just 32 which gives them the best goal difference – well done to Amy, Sarah, Sam, Holly, Katie, Jenny & Mary Ann. The Reds and the White team had matches that could have gone either way but with great determination and team work they managed to pull the game around in the last quarter and both teams won their matches by 44 goals to 36. The 4th winning side was the Silver team who played Manor which keeps them at the top of their division for the 2nd week running.
Most goals scored so far Green Team 245 – (Sarah & Amy): 2nd Place Silver team with 208 goals – (Michaela: Lauren: Ifeoma) and in 3rd place the White team on 201 goals – (Leigh-Ann & Ruth)
Best Defence so far is – Silver team 144 (Kirsty, Rebecca & Lydia): 2nd on 169 goals against is the Green team (Jenny & Lauren): 3rd place the Orange team with 171 goals against with the defensive end of Jackie: Nicky; Jasmye & Lauren alternating:
